Today I want to share (with her permission) the success story of Estela, a woman in her early thirties who came to me after trying to conceive naturally for 2 years. She had never been pregnant, and wanted to try holistic and natural methods.
Painful ovulation
She reported during our first consultation that she was always suffering from pain and cramping around the mid-cycle. I suspected she might suffer from one of the 4 types of PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome).
We started 2 acupuncture sessions a month, daily herbs at home, and also
started to implement dietary changes like no caffeine and reduced gluten intake.
Balanced periods
After 3 sessions, she reported having had the best cycle ever. For the first time in many years, she had no pain or cramping at ovulation, and observed fertile mucus.
Miscarriage & PCOS diagnosis
After 3 months of treatment, she got the first positive pregnancy test of her life. It was wonderful news ! Unfortunately, a few days later, her period came, which means it was a chemical pregnancy and that she miscarried before week 5.
That's also when the diagnosis of PCOS became official. I had suspected she was suffering from it and told her to enquire with her doctors who confirmed it. At that point, she was so desperate that she was talking about adoption.
But we continued the treatments patiently, to help her bounce back physically and emotionally after her loss. Her body was definitely responding positively to treatments.
Perseverance & success
The very next month, she got pregnant again and went on to have a very healthy pregnancy!
She continued monthly visits throughout her pregnancy
